The Traveling Band
|
Our special groups begin in the fall when students in grades 6,7 and 8 are nominated to be members of our Future Musicians Traveling Band. This band meets for two regional rehearsals in November and one combined rehearsal in January. Our Traveling Band has proudly displayed their talent at a variety of venues, including Seton Hall women's basketball games at Seton Hall University in South Orange, Seton Hall men's basketball games at the new Prudential Center in Newark, the Trenton Devils hockey games and even a special outdoor performance at Lincoln Center! The Traveling Band plays mostly fun, "pop," crowd pleasing music and is great fun for our students.
| The Future Musicians State Band Concert

The 2008 Future Musicians All-State Band Concert will take place at Caldwell College on April 20th. Every Future Musicians student can be a part of this exciting event. We have our Festival Band for beginners, the Honor Guard Band for intermediate level players and the All-State Concert and Symphonic Bands for our advanced students. Participants in these bands may also try out to become part of our special Woodwind Ensemble and the ever popular Jazz Band. Alumni are welcome to participate as well!
| Concert and Symphonic Band

Students from grades 6-8 may be placed in our All-State Concert or Symphonic Band, depending on their playing ability. These are our most advanced groups of students who will also perform at a special outdoor concert at Lincoln Center in May.
Official placements for the 2008 All-State Concert and Symphonic Bands were held on January 12th. We still have room for more Future Musicians students to join these talented groups, so please contact the Future Musicians office if you are interested in participating.
Rehearsal Schedule for Concert Band:
Saturday, March 8th at Our Lady of the Lake School in Verona -- 10am to 2pm.
Saturday, March 15th at Hillside Catholic Academy in Hillside -- 10am to 2pm.
Saturday, April 5th (Photo Day) at St. Catherine of Siena in Cedar Grove -- 10am to 2pm.
Saturday, April 12th at St. Cecilia, Iselin -- 10am to 2pm.
Dress rehearsal at Caldwell College on Saturday, April 19th -- 9:30am to 12:30pm.
Concert is Sunday April 20th at 2pm.

Please note: students must bring their instruments, music books, State Band music folder, music stand and a pencil to each rehearsal. Also, please dress appropriately for photo day on April 5th: White shirt/blouse with a collar, dark blue or black pants, dark socks and dark dress shoes. (Girls may wear a black skirt with dark tights.)
| Honor Guard Band
|
The Honor Guard is our intermediate group of players. These young musicians have the unique opportunity to hone their skills with peers from throughout New Jersey, while observing the advanced bands play.
Rehearsals are:
Saturday, March 15th at Hillside Catholic Academy, Hillside from 12:00 - 3:00 pm. PHOTO DAY!
Saturday, April 12th at St. Cecilia, Iselin from 10:00-12:00 noon.
Dress rehearsal is Saturday April 19th at Caldwell College. Concert Sunday, April 20th at 5:00 pm at Caldwell College
